Working visit of PABSEC Delegation in Tirana, the Republic of Albania, 3 March 2026
On 3 March 2026, on the margins of the Meeting of the Committee on Social and Humanitarian Policy, the PABSEC Secretary General, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Niko Peleshi, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Petar Kanev, PABSEC Vice-President and Head of the PABSEC Bulgarian Delegation.
The Secretary General conveyed his profound appreciation to the Speaker of the Albanian parliament for the excellent organization and high-level hosting of the Committee meeting. He underlined the valuable and consistent contribution of the Albanian parliament to the activities of PABSEC, emphasizing its constructive role in advancing the Assembly’s objectives. He further briefed the Speaker on the preparations for the forthcoming 67th Plenary Session of the PABSEC General Assembly, scheduled to take place in Georgia in June 2026.
In his remarks, Mr. Peleshi reaffirmed the strong commitment of the Parliament of Albania and its delegation to the goals and principles of the Assembly. He stressed the readiness of the Albanian Delegation to continue its active and constructive engagement in the work of PABSEC, highlighting the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, promoting dialogue, and advancing initiatives aimed at tangible economic benefits in the Black Sea Region.
On the same day, the PABSEC delegation was received by H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, President of the Republic of Albania. The Secretary General briefed the President on the current activities and priorities of PABSEC. Mr. Begaj expressed his appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed his support for the Assembly’s activities. He emphasized the significance of parliamentary cooperation as a key component in advancing economic initiatives in the region.
The meetings were further attended by Mr. Borys Kolisnychenko, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Pavlina Lozanova, Advisor to the Secretary General - Press Secretary, Ms. Renata Meto, Secretary of the Committee on Social and Humanitarian Policy and Mr. Ali Ustundag, Administrative Officer of the PABSEC.
