Working visit of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, to the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Sofia, 14 May 2026
On 14 May 2026, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to Sofia and held a meeting with Ms. Mihaela Dotsova, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria. The meeting was attended by Mr. Petar Kanev, former Vice-President of PABSEC and Mr. Petar Vitanov, Chairman of the Political Group of “Progressive Bulgaria”.
During the meeting, the Secretary General conveyed his sincere congratulations to Ms. Dotsova upon her election as President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and wished her every success in the fulfilment of her high responsibilities.
Mr. Hajiyev informed the President of the National Assembly about the current activities of PABSEC and the preparations underway for the 67th General Assembly of PABSEC in Georgia, extending to her an invitation to participate in the forthcoming PABSEC Plenary session. The Secretary General expressed his appreciation for the valuable contribution and active engagement of the Bulgarian delegation in the activities of the Assembly, underlining Bulgaria’s constructive role in promoting parliamentary dialogue and regional cooperation within the Black Sea region. Mr. Hajiyev also informed Ms. Mihaela Dotsova about the forthcoming PABSEC Committee Meeting on Economic and Development Policy, scheduled to take place in the autumn of 2026 in the Republic of Bulgaria.
Ms. Mihaela Dotsova expressed her appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the great importance that the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria attaches to strengthening regional cooperation within the Black Sea region. She conveyed her confidence in the continued enhancement of fruitful cooperation within the framework of PABSEC and emphasized the readiness of the National Assembly to organize the forthcoming PABSEC Committee Meeting in Bulgaria at the highest possible level.
During his visit to Sofia, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev was accompanied by Ms. Pavlina Lozanova, Adviser to the Secretary General, Press Secretary.
