Working visit of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, to Ankara, 10 October 2023
On 10 October 2023, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to Ankara and had meetings at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT).
During the meeting with Mr. Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, the PABSEC Secretary General awarded the Speaker of the GNAT with the PABSEC Medal of Honour dedicated to the 30th PABSEC Anniversary and thanked him for the overall support by the GNAT. The PABSEC Secretary General informed about the current activities of the Assembly during the PABSEC Ukrainian Presidency, as well as the final stage of the preparatory work of the PABSEC International Secretariat for the 62nd General Assembly, which will be held in Kyiv on 16-18 November 2023. The important role of the PABSEC Turkish delegation was emphasized and the hope was expressed to continue constructive cooperation.
Mr. Numan Kurtulmus thanked the Secretary General for his work and assured that the Turkish Parliament and the PABSEC Turkish delegation will do everything necessary to strengthen cooperation within the PABSEC and continue providing the necessary conditions, as a host country, to ensure the efficient work of the International Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Mr. Fatih Donmez, Head of the PABSEC Turkish delegation.
During the meeting with Mr. Fatih Donmez, the new head of the PABSEC Turkish delegation the PABSEC Secretary General presented information on the structure and activities of the Assembly. He also discussed the organizational issues of the 62nd PABSEC General Assembly and the possibility of holding committee meetings in Türkiye in 2024.
