Visit of Representatives of the Union of Bosphorus Municipalities to the PABSEC International Secretariat, 11 December 2025
On 11 December 2025, the representatives of the Union of Bosphorus Municipalities, composed of Mr. Hüseyin Coşkun, Deputy Mayor of the Sariyer Municipality, member of the Union, Mr. Yasin Cemal Galata, Manager of the Union, and Ms. İrem Köse Reis, Head of the Fisheries Unit of Sarıyer Municipality, paid a visit to the PABSEC International Secretariat and met with Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
During the meeting, the guests presented detailed information on the activities of the Union, established with the aim of preserving the historical and natural environment of the Bosphorus, protecting biodiversity, and coordinating the efforts of member municipalities in addressing environmental challenges. They informed Mr. Hajiyev about the Union’s projects and initiatives in the fields of blue growth, water protection, and fisheries development, and the recent problems affecting the fisheries sector, as well as the growing environmental pressures in the Bosphorus.
Mr. Hajiyev underlined that the environmental protection has been a priority on the PABSEC agenda and proposed the organisation of a joint meeting between PABSEC, BSEC, and the Union of Bosphorus Municipalities to examine the issues raised and explore possibilities for coordinated action. He also noted the possibility of convening a PABSEC Committee Meeting dedicated to environmental pollution-related challenges and protection of the fish resources in the Black Sea region.
