Special Meeting of the PABSEC Standing Committee, Istanbul, 23 February 2024
The Special Meeting of the PABSEC Standing Committee was held in Istanbul, on 23 February 2024.
The Meeting was attended by the national delegations of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, the Republic of Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine.
The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Petro Koci, PABSEC Vice-President, Head of the PABSEC Albanian Delegation.
The Standing Committee adopted amendments to the PABSEC Rules of Procedure and the Staff Regulations for the PABSEC International Secretariat presented by the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee.
During the Meeting, an exchange of views took place on various issues of the PABSEC activities and on the current and future plans of the Assembly. Representatives of national delegations supported the proposal on resuming work to enhance the status of the Assembly.
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, informed the participants about the preparatory work for holding PABSEC events and noted that it is necessary for the countries to be prepared to hold the PABSEC meetings every two years. The Secretary General said that an activity plan for two years will be elaborated and presented in order to enable countries to plan their preparations well in advance.
