Participation of the PABSEC Delegation to the Black Sea Blue Economy Summit, 26–29 March 2026, Trabzon, Republic of Türkiye
Mr. Ivan Kyrylenko, member of the PABSEC Ukrainian Delegation, and Mr. Borys Kolisnychenko, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, participated in the Black Sea Blue Economy Summit held in Trabzon, Republic of Türkiye, from 26 to 29 March 2026.
The Summit convened representatives of regional and international organisations, including the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), alongside academic and private sector stakeholders.
Discussions focused on key sectors shaping the Black Sea Blue economy, including maritime transport and logistics, port infrastructure and shipbuilding, offshore energy, digitalisation, environmental security, and investment frameworks, within a broader geopolitical and geo-economic context.
Within the framework of the Summit, PABSEC representatives participated as speakers in the session entitled “Regional Cooperation and Sustainable Blue Economy: Shared Vision, Shared Future, Security.”
In his intervention, Mr. Ivan Kyrylenko emphasised the importance of incorporating environmental security into the development of the blue economy as a prerequisite for sustainable economic growth in the Black Sea region. He also highlighted Ukraine’s potential contribution to the regional energy transition, including in the field of biomethane production, noting the country’s resource base and industrial capacity.
Mr. Borys Kolisnychenko underlined the ongoing transformation of the Black Sea region in the context of evolving economic cooperation, and stressed the role of parliamentary diplomacy as an effective mechanism for maintaining dialogue and facilitating coordination, particularly under current geopolitical conditions. He reaffirmed the importance of PABSEC as a regional platform for promoting cooperation and policy alignment.
