Participation of PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev in the 28th Eurasian Economic Summit, Istanbul, 7-8 May 2025
On 7-8 May 2025, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, took part in the 28th Eurasian Economic Summit organized in Istanbul by the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation.
The two-day Summit dedicated to the topic “A More Humane World – Dialogue for a Liveable World,” was attended by government representatives, former presidents, ministers, parliamentarians, representatives of international organizations, and public figures from 50 countries.
The Summit discussed issues like “Ecology, Economy, Energy, Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare,” “Disaster-Resilient Cities,” “Peace and Dialogue,” and “Dialogue between Global Leaders.”
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, addressed the Summit and spoke about the situation in the Black Sea region. He informed the participants about the activities of PABSEC and the role of parliamentarians in strengthening cooperation in the region.
At the ceremonial part of the event, the PABSEC Secretary General received Erhard Busek Award of Leadership, named after Erhard Busek, former Vice-Chancellor of Austria, for the significant contribution to the enhancement of parliamentary diplomacy.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the PABSEC Secretary General met with former Presidents of Türkiye - Abdullah Gul, and Moldova - Petru Lucinschi, and former Prime Minister of Moldova Chiril Gaburici. A meeting was also held with Nobel laureate Aziz Sancar, who was awarded the Heydar Aliyev Prize.
