Mr. Ilyas Topsakal, Member of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation, participated in the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, held on 13–18 October 2025 in Washington, D.C.
The events served as an important platform for high-level inter-parliamentary dialogue, discussion of global economic challenges, and the exchange of experience among representatives of states, international organizations, and civil society.
Mr. Topsakal took part in several sessions organized within the framework of the event. At the session entitled “Reflections and Considerations on the Role of Parliamentarians in Global Development”, particular attention was paid to the importance of parliamentary oversight and inter-parliamentary cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. During the session on “Sovereign Debt Transparency: The Oversight Role of Parliamentarians”, participants exchanged views on enhancing accountability in the sphere of public debt, strengthening institutional checks, and promoting transparent fiscal governance in developing economies.
The high level of parliamentary participation in the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund reaffirmed the shared commitment to international dialogue and cooperation, highlighting the crucial role of legislatures in advancing transparency, accountability, and sustainable development within the global economic agenda.
