Participation of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, in the Opening of the Star Oil Refinery, Izmir, 19 October 2018
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the Solemn Opening of the Star Oil Refinery, owned by the Azerbaijani State Oil Company SOCAR, in Izmir, on 19 October 2018.
Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey and Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, addressed to the gathering at the Opening Ceremony. Mr. Erdogan stated that this refinery is the largest greenfield investment in Turkey in the last 30 years, adding that more than 1,100 jobs will be created. Mr. Aliyev noted that Turkey and Azerbaijan expressed a strong political will in drawing an energy and transportation map of Eurasia.
Mr. Binali Yildirim, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Mr. Mustafa Varank, Minister of the Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, also took part in this important event.
