Participation of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, in the Conferences of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic States (TURKPA), Baku, 21 November 2023
On 21 November 2023, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the conferences of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic States (TURKPA), organized in Baku, as part of the celebration of the 15th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Assembly.
The events were attended by members of parliaments from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and other officials and representatives of the Organization of Turkic States, parliamentary organizations, as well as other international organizations, and the diplomatic corps.
The first Conference was dedicated to the “15th Anniversary of TURKPA: Experience of the Past, Today's Realities and Future Prospects”. During the discussions, it was noted that the unification of the Turkic world is a historical event and the shared culture, history, language, and religion lays the foundation for strong cooperation. The Conference focused on discussing the past, present, and future of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic States.
In his speech, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, noted the development of fruitful cooperation between the PABSEC and the TURKPA and the important role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the region and in the world. The PABSEC Secretary General congratulated the Assembly on its Anniversary and presented a commemorative gift.
The second Conference was dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The main topic of discussion was “Heydar Aliyev and Parliamentarism”. It was noted that the political wisdom and progressive ideas of the great leader Heydar Aliyev formed the political and ideological foundations of Azerbaijani statehood and became the basis for the further development of the state. It was emphasized that the efforts of Heydar Aliyev in the name of unity and solidarity of the Turkic world were fundamental in increasing the role and influence of the Turkic world in the international arena.
In his speech, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, shared with the participants his memories of the life and work of Heydar Aliyev.
