Participation of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), 24–25 June 2026, Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan

Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), held on 24–25 June 2026 in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was hosted by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Session gathered a large number of high-level participants, including Speakers of Parliament, heads and representatives of international organizations and institutions. The programme of the event included discussions on current global challenges, together with bilateral and multilateral meetings aimed at strengthening interparliamentary dialogue and cooperation.

In his intervention, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev underlined the importance of peace, dialogue and mutual understanding in all parts of the world. He emphasized that parliamentary assemblies and interparliamentary platforms play an important role in promoting dialogue and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving peace. In this regard, he noted that PABSEC, guided by its motto “Peace, Conciliation and Cooperation”, provides an effective platform for discussion, exchange of views and the strengthening of regional cooperation.

On the margins of the Session, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev held meetings with representatives of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS), during which issues of common interest and prospects for further interparliamentary cooperation were discussed.

The 20th Session of the PUIC Conference concluded with the adoption of the Baku Declaration.
