Participation of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, in the 14th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, 1 June 2026, Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the 14th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, held on 1 June 2026 in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia.
The main theme of the meeting was “Advancing Tolerance and Peace: The Strategic Role of Parliaments in Shaping and Legislating Policies for the Future.”
In his address, Mr. Hajiyev underlined the fundamental importance of peace and tolerance as essential principles for regional stability, sustainable development, and constructive cooperation among nations. He emphasized that the Black Sea region represents a vivid example of the practical value of these two concepts.
The Secretary General noted that parliamentary platforms are particularly important for creating and strengthening an atmosphere of peace and tolerance. He stressed that parliamentarians have a special responsibility to promote dialogue and develop inclusive policies through legislation and cooperation.
On the margins of the Plenary Session, Mr. Hajiyev held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Afrim Gashi, Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. During the meeting, the sides discussed the upcoming PABSEC activities, and the PABSEC General Assembly to be held in Georgia, on 29 June – 1 July 2026.
