PABSEC Participation in the 217th Session of the IPU Governing Council, 16 April 2026, Istanbul
PABSEC Deputy Secretaries General, Ms. Valentina Cobzareanu and Mr. Borys Kolisnychenko, participated in the 217th session of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held on 16 April 2026 within the framework of the 152nd IPU Assembly in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.
During the session, participants considered a wide range of issues related to the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, including the report of the President, the presentation of the IPU Impact Report 2025, the financial results for 2025 and the financial situation of the Organization, as well as the draft IPU Strategy for 2027–2031.
The agenda also included matters related to IPU membership and observer status, the priority theme for 2026 dedicated to respect for human rights, forthcoming inter-parliamentary meetings, the activities of IPU committees and specialized bodies, reports on recent specialized meetings, as well as the election of the next Secretary General of the IPU.
The participation of the PABSEC International Secretariat reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union and to promote dialogue among parliamentary institutions at both regional and global levels.
