Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, took part in the 1st Council on Ageing, Ankara, 20-21 February 2019
On 20-21 February 2019, upon the invitation of Mrs. Zahra Zumrut Selcuk, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, took part in the 1st Council on Ageing in Ankara. This gathering was organized by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, under the patronage of Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey.
At the opening of the Council, Ms. Zahra Zumrut Selcuk, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey, addressed the participants.
Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, took part in the work of the Council. He informed the participants about the key challenges facing the international community in this sphere and the measures that have been undertaken by the Republic of Turkey. The President of the Republic of Turkey met with a group of elderly citizens, handed them commemorative gifts and awarded the winners of the competitions for the best photo and painting on the elderly issues.
The Council was attended by ministers, deputy ministers and heads of respective governmental structures from Bulgaria, Qatar, Pakistan, Northern Macedonia, etc.
In the framework of the Council, a Panel Discussion dedicated to the topic “Elderly Policies in the World” was organised.
