Visit of Ambassador Merve Kavakci, First Deputy Secretary General of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat, to the PABSEC International Secretariat, Istanbul, 9 February 2023
On 9 February 2023, Ambassador Merve Kavakci, First Deputy Secretary General of the Permanent International Secretariat of the BSEC Organization visited the PABSEC International Secretariat and met with Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
The PABSEC Secretary General expressed his condolences for the devastating earthquake in the South-East Türkiye, which claimed the lives of many people and resulted in many injured. He noted the important role of Türkiye within the PABSEC and informed about the current and future activities of the Assembly under the PABSEC Turkish Presidency. The PABSEC Secretary General noted that in 2023 the Assembly is celebrating the Thirtieth Anniversary of its establishment and stressed that the PABSEC contributes to strengthening the multilateral cooperation within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
Ambassador Kavakci thanked the Secretary General for the support and informed the PABSEC Secretary General about the ongoing activities in the BSEC Organization under the Serbian Chairmanship-in-Office. She also noted the importance of joining efforts to solve pressing problems in the region.
It was noted that it is important to coordinate the work program of the BSEC and the PABSEC and continue to participate in each other's activities.
