66th Meeting of the PABSEC Committee on Economic Policy and Development, 17 March 2026, Bucharest
The 66th Meeting of the PABSEC Committee on Economic Policy and Development was held in Bucharest (Romania) on 17 March 2026, at the invitation of the Senate of Romania.
The Meeting was attended by the national delegations of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine, as well as a representative of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat, Black Sea University Network and members of the PABSEC International Secretariat. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Oleksandr Marikovskyi, Chairman of the Committee, member of the PABSEC Ukrainian delegation.
The opening ceremony was addressed by Mr. Liviu-Lucian Mazilu, Vice-President of the Senate of Romania, Mr. Mihail Harbic, Director General, Department for Bilateral Relations, Regional Cooperation and European Integration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Mr. Oleksandr Marikovskyi Chairman of the PABSEC Committee on Economic and Development Policy and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
The Committee discussed the draft Report and Recommendation 208/2026 “Digital Transformation in the BSEC Member States ”, which will be submitted to the 67th Plenary Session of the General Assembly.
The Committee elected Mr. Marius Humelnicu, member of the PABSEC Romanian Delegation, as Chairman of the PABSEC Committee on Economic and Development Policy for a term of two years.
The Committee took note of the information on the activities of the BSEC Organization presented by Mr. Alexei Nistrean, Executive Manager of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat.
The next 67th Meeting of the Committee will be held in autumn 2026 in the Republic of Bulgaria. It was proposed to discuss “Climate Change in the BSEC Member States – Economic Aspects” as the main item of the Meeting. It was decided that member of the PABSEC Bulgarian Delegation will be the Rapporteur on the Report.
