62nd Meeting of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee, Istanbul, 31 October 2023
The 62nd Meeting of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee was held on 31 October 2023 in Istanbul with the technical support of the PABSEC International Secretariat.
National delegations from Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, North Macedonia, Romania, Türkiye and Ukraine took part in the Meeting. The Meeting was chaired by Ms. Roberta Alma Anastase, member of the PABSEC Romanian delegation, Chairperson of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee.
The Committee discussed the draft Report and Recommendation 194/2023 “30 years of the PABSEC: Strengthening Cooperation in the Black Sea Region”, which will be submitted for consideration to the 62nd Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly.
The Committee approved the amendments to the PABSEC Rules of Procedure and the Staff Regulations of the PABSEC International Secretariat, submitted by the Working Group on the PABSEC Rules of Procedure. The adopted amendments were forwarded to the Standing Committee for final adoption.
The Committee took note of the information on the activities of the BSEC Organization presented by Mr. Ashot Kocharyan, Executive Director of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat.
The next 63rd Meeting of the Committee will take place in the spring of 2024, the date and venue of the Committee are being negotiated. It was decided to discuss “The Role of Parliaments in Promoting Intercultural Dialogue and Tolerance in the Fight Against Hate Speech” as the main issue. The Rapporteur on the Report will be Mr. Daniel Constantin, Head of the PABSEC Romanian delegation.
