62nd Meeting of the PABSEC Committee on Social and Humanitarian Policy, Skopje, 5 March 2024
The 62nd Meeting of the PABSEC Committee on Social and Humanitarian Policy was held in Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia) on 5 March 2024 upon the invitation of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The Meeting was attended by the national delegations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, the Republic of Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine, as well as a representative of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat and members of the PABSEC International Secretariat. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Musa Guliyev, Chairman of the Committee (Azerbaijan).
The Opening Ceremony was addressed by Mr. Jovan Mitreski, President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Ms. Lidia Tasevska, Head of the Delegation of the Republic of North Macedonia to the PABSEC, Ms. Cvetanka Ivanova, Secretary General of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
The Committee re-elected Mr. Musa Guliyev, member of the PABSEC Azerbaijani delegation, to the post of Chairman of the PABSEC Committee on Social and Humanitarian Policy for two years. The Committee also elected Ms. Jasmina Obradovic, member of the PABSEC Serbian delegation, to the post of Vice-Chair of the Committee for two years.
The Committee discussed the draft Report and Recommendation 198/2024 “Investing in Human Capital for Innovation and Prosperity in the BSEC Region”, which will be submitted for consideration to the 63rd Plenary Session of the General Assembly.
The Committee took note of the information on the activities of the BSEC Organization presented by Ms. Sandra Vujinovic, Executive Director of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat.
The next 63rd Meeting of the Committee will be held in September 2024 in Baku. It was proposed to discuss “The Role of Parliaments in Strengthening the Protection of Cultural Heritage in the BSEC Member States” as the main subject. Ms. Blagica Lasovska, member of the delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia to the PABSEC, was appointed as a Rapporteur on the Report.
