Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the Workshop on Green Economy Promotion organized by the UfM Secretariat, under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry of Algeria, with the support of the Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ).

This event brought together a diverse range of stakeholders and experts from the Mediterranean states to discuss the threefold role that green economy can play in generating economic growth, in fostering regional integration, and in contributing to the mitigation of climate change. The Workshop was organised in three panels: Panel I: Green economy as a generator of sustainable development; Panel II: Green economy as a catalyst for regional integration; and Panel III: How to unleash the green economy full potential?

The participants exchanged views and practices on how to harness the green economy’s full potential for the interest of the Mediterranean region through the adoption of a favourable legal and regulatory framework and economic decisions for enhancing partnership in this area.

In his speech on the topic “Green economy as a catalyst for regional integration” Mr. Asaf Hajiyev spoke about the current state of affairs and prospects for the countries of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in promoting green economy and introducing necessary instruments for ensuring effective ecological management.
