On 7-9 September 2022, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to Moscow and had meetings in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

During the meeting in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation with Mr. Alexander Babakov, Head of the PABSEC Russian Delegation, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, were discussed issues of the current and future activities of the PABSEC, within the framework of the PABSEC Serbian Presidency, the forthcoming autumn meetings of the four PABSEC Committees and the 60^th General Assembly in Serbia, in December 2022. It was noted that the first meeting of the new PABSEC Committee on Technological and Environmental Affairs will be held in October. The PABSEC Secretary General also informed about the preparatory work for organizing the anniversary events dedicated to the 30^th PABSEC Anniversary in 2023. It was emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy in the Wider Black Sea Region and in the world at large.

During the meeting with the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Alexander Sergeev, were discussed the prospects for developing cooperation between the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and the national academies of sciences of the countries of the Wider Black Sea Region, as well as the possibility of organizing a joint event in 2023, with the participation of academic circles, dedicated to the 30^th PABSEC Anniversary. The meeting was attended by Academician Yury Balega, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Mr. Anton Varfolomeev, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
