The Twenty Sixth Meeting of the Cultural,
Educational and Social Affairs Committee, Belgrade, 5-6 April 2006
The Twenty Sixth Meeting of
the Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee was held in Belgrade on 5-6 April 2006.
The members of the Committee discussed the Draft Report and Draft
Recommendation 89/2006 on “The dialogue among cultures as a means to build
trust among the nations”.
The dialogue among cultures
contributes largely to bringing people and nations together and removing the barriers
arising from mutual misunderstanding and unfounded stereotypes in the minds of
people from a specific culture about the culture of other nations. The Black Sea
geo-cultural region, bridging Europe
and Asia,
being at the cross-roads of many civilizations and cultures, is an example of a
culturally diverse area, characterized by a variety of historical roots,
traditions and religions. PABSEC is fully aware of
the significance of the dialogue among cultures as a major means to build trust
among the nations of the BSEC region.
The Twenty-Seventh Meeting of
the Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee will be held on 13-14
September 2006 in Moscow. The main subject
on the Agenda will be the “Process of globalization and a potential threat for
cultural diversity”. Rapporteur on the Recommendation
will be Mr. Jan Husarik, Chairman of the Committee
and on the Report Mrs. Olga Seliverstova, Member of
the Committee (Russian Federation).
