The International Parliamentary Conference dedicated to the 65th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the International Parliamentary Conference “Future of the European security”, organised by the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe took place in Saint-Petersburg respectively on 7 and 8 April 2010. The PABSEC was represented by Mr. Mykola Yankovsky, PABSEC Vice-President, Head of the Ukrainian PABSEC Delegation, Mr. Dusan Bajatovic, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, and Mr. Alexander Furman, Deputy Secretary General. Addressing the participants of the Plenary Session of the Conference “Future of the European security”, Mr. Yankovsky stressed that the Black Sea region is becoming increasingly important for European security due to its strategic location as a link and transit route on the crossroads between Europe, Middle East and Central Asia and, consequently, stability in the Black Sea region is important and relevant both on the European and global scale. |
