Participation of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, in the BSEC Coordination Meeting of the BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office, the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, the BSEC Related Bodies and the BSEC PERMIS, Istanbul, 12 September 2017
The Coordination Meeting of the BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office, the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, the BSEC Related Bodies and the BSEC PERMIS was held in Istanbul, at the BSEC Headquarters, on 12 September 2017. The PABSEC International Secretariat was represented by Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
The representatives from the BSEC Member States (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine) and the representatives from the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Business Council, from the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, participated in the meeting.
The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Andriy Kononenko, Ambassador-at-large. The main item of the agenda was the discussion and finalization of the draft Calendar of the Events of the Ukrainian Chairmanship-in-Office.
Mr. Oleksandar Gaman, Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul and Representative of Ukraine to the BSEC, presented the priorities of the Ukrainian Chairmanship-in-Office of the BSEC for the next six months, underlining that Ukraine will do its best to strengthen the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization during its chairmanship. Following the presentation, the participants expressed their views, comments and proposals.
The PABSEC Secretary General informed the participants about the activities during the Ukrainian PABSEC Presidency, about the forthcoming 50th PABSEC General Assembly that will be held in Kiev, during 28-30 November 2017, and also about the subjects of the upcoming PABSEC Committee meetings. Mr. Hajiyev briefly informed on the preparation of the Declaration of the PABSEC on the 25th Anniversary of the Assembly. He also informed about the Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference, which has been recently signed, during the 26th Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference, held in Hamburg, on 3-5 September 2017. Mr. Hajiyev once again stressed the importance of the Declaration on Strengthening the Status of the PABSEC and he asked the Armenian representatives to the BSEC to consider again to join the Declaration, which has already been signed by 11 BSEC Member States. It will increase its international role, for the benefit of the countries and the peoples of the BSEC Region.
In the framework of this meeting, the PABSEC Secretary General also attended the Coordination meeting of the BSEC Troika, the BSEC Related Bodies and the BSEC PERMIS.
